Resilience isn’t just a word—it’s a story, and The Get Back is Larry Gee’s.
Originally written and recorded between 2011 and 2016, The Get Back was meant to be a defining moment, a bold statement of an artist finding his sound. But life had other plans. The years that followed were filled with transformation, heartbreak, and the weight of starting over.

In 2018, a six-year relationship ended, sending Larry into a period of deep self-reflection. The people who had once been in his corner moved on, leaving him to navigate the industry—and himself—alone. The momentum that had been building began to slow, and by 2020, as the world shut down, so did many of the avenues he had hoped to walk.

Then came May 2023. A kidney disease diagnosis forced Larry to take a hard look at everything. But instead of letting it break him, he went searching—walking daily, pushing forward, rediscovering himself. On one of those walks, fate intervened. An old friend, producer Beau Bedford, reached out, and in their conversation, Larry was reminded of something he had almost forgotten: The Get Back. The songs that had once been left behind suddenly felt alive again, resonating in a new way, with a new meaning.

This isn’t just an album release—it’s a reclamation. A refusal to let time, loss, or circumstance define the future. With Beau Bedford back in the mix, The Get Back is finally getting the moment it always deserved. While it was originally released in 2024 to local critical acclaim as it won album of the year at the Dallas Entertainment Awards, this project has far more to achieve for Larry as it hasn’t come close to reaching its potential. It’s a time to celebrate as in 2025 Larry had finally received a match for a donated kidney, helping him to move past this life-threatening disease he faced. Now with a new updated mix and mastering of the tracks, plus one additional bonus track and a genre-shifting remix from Dallas’ own electronic avant-garde artist Ishi, the project is getting re-released and pressed on vinyl by DallasAF, as a local incubator project, helping The Get Back and Larry Gee reach their full potential and the audience across the world that deserves to hear this album, and Larry’s story behind it. It’s not just about picking up where things left off—it’s about owning every step, every struggle, and every transformation that brought Larry Gee to this point.
This is The Get Back. And this time, it’s unstoppable.
